The Literacy Council of St. Mary’s provides free tutoring service for adults. Founded by Sister Sara Ann Abell in 1980, 45 years ago, the Literacy Council continues to work with adults who are learning English, need adult basic education, or have other self-identified educational goals. Our agency trains volunteer tutors to provide support. Our trained volunteers offer instruction tailored each student’s individual goals. Our staff carefully matches the volunteer with a student, assuring beneficial relationship. Our tutors find satisfaction in seeing their students grow and thrive in our community. Our Trivia Night helps us manage increasing costs of operation.
